What a France Trip Actually Costs from India in 2026
Seven categories, three spending levels, three durations — every figure in rupees, every source named, and the four lines that most quotes leave out until you are already committed.
In short
A seven-day France trip from India costs ₹1.15–1.8 lakh per person at the budget end, ₹1.85–2.85 lakh mid-range and ₹3–4.3 lakh at the luxury end, flights included. Return airfare runs ₹35,000–50,000 off-season and ₹55,000–85,000 in season; the Schengen visa with insurance adds ₹10,500–22,800 per adult.

The headline: what seven days in France costs, by category
This is the benchmark table the rest of the page explains. It is Thrillophilia's published seven-day Paris breakdown, reproduced without editing, because it is the most granular independent Indian-market source in circulation and because reproducing it honestly is more useful than restating it in our own numbers.
| Category | Budget | Mid-range | Luxury |
|---|---|---|---|
| Return flights India–Paris | ₹35,000 – 50,000 | ₹50,000 – 75,000 | ₹1,20,000+ |
| Accommodation, 6 nights | ₹25,000 – 40,000 | ₹45,000 – 75,000 | ₹80,000 – 1,20,000+ |
| Food, 7 days | ₹12,000 – 20,000 | ₹25,000 – 40,000 | ₹50,000 – 70,000+ |
| Local transport | ₹10,000 – 20,000 | ₹20,000 – 35,000 | ₹35,000 – 50,000+ |
| Sightseeing and entry tickets | ₹10,000 – 20,000 | ₹10,000 – 20,000 | ₹10,000 – 20,000 |
| Visa and insurance | ₹10,000 – 12,000 | ₹10,000 – 12,000 | ₹10,000 – 15,000 |
| Total for 7 days | ₹1.15 – 1.8 L | ₹1.85 – 2.85 L | ₹3 – 4.3 L+ |
How to read that table without fooling yourself
Three things go wrong when people use a cost table like this.
The first is averaging the bands. The budget column is not a single trip. A ₹35,000 return fare and a ₹25,000 six-night stay do not usually coexist — the cheap fare is an off-season fare, and off-season is also when the cheap hotel is cheap, so those two do go together; but a ₹50,000 in-season fare paired with a ₹25,000 hostel week does not, because in season the hostel is not ₹25,000. Pick a season first, then read down the column.
The second is forgetting that the flight row is not your flight row. The benchmark is an India-to-Paris return. If you are flying from Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai or Trichy there is no nonstop to Paris from any of them, and the routing you choose can add ₹6,000 and four hours or ₹20,000 and a night in a hotel. The flights section below breaks that out.
The third is treating the sightseeing row as optional. It is the most fixed cost in the table. Monument entry, a Seine cruise, a Versailles ticket and a day at Disneyland cost the same for everyone. If you need to cut, cut the hotel category or the month — not the things you came to see.
Ten days instead of seven
For a ten-day trip the most-cited Indian-market benchmark is PickYourTrail's, which bands it as follows. Note that these sit alongside a separately quoted round-trip airfare range, so read them as the ground portion unless the source says otherwise — we flag the ambiguity rather than pretending it is not there.
| Spending level | 10 days in France | Round-trip airfare quoted separately |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | ₹90,000 – 1,50,000 | ₹31,000 – 92,000 across all bands |
| Mid-range | ₹1,80,000 – 3,00,000 | — |
| Luxury | ₹4,00,000+ | — |
Flights: what it costs to reach Paris from your city
This is the line most Indian cost guides get wrong, because they quote a Delhi or Mumbai fare and leave a Coimbatore reader to guess. There is no nonstop service to Paris from Chennai, Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Madurai or Hyderabad. Nonstop CDG service from India is Delhi only.
| From | Nonstop to Paris? | How people actually fly it | Published entry fare seen | Plan on, return |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi (DEL) | Yes — the only one in India | Air France AF283 daily, 00:50 departure; Air India AI147/AI143, one to two daily. About 11 h 10 in the air | — | ₹55,000 – 85,000 in season |
| Chennai (MAA) | No | Gulf hub — Emirates via Dubai, Qatar via Doha, Etihad via Abu Dhabi; or a Delhi feed onto Air India | from ₹23,204, IndiGo-coded | ₹55,000 – 85,000 in season, ₹35,000 – 50,000 off |
| Bengaluru (BLR) | No | Gulf hubs, the Air France Bengaluru feed, Lufthansa via Frankfurt, Turkish via Istanbul | from ₹20,489 teaser; Air India listed at ₹83,480 | ₹55,000 – 85,000 in season |
| Coimbatore (CJB) | No | Position to Chennai, Bengaluru or Kochi first, then a Gulf or European hub | — | Add the positioning leg to the MAA/BLR band |
| Mumbai (BOM) | No nonstop in the sources we hold | Gulf or European hub | Air India listed at ₹62,180 | ₹55,000 – 85,000 in season |
| Hyderabad (HYD) | No | Gulf hub | — | ₹55,000 – 85,000 in season |
The Schengen visa and insurance, all in
The visa is a small line in a France budget and an enormous line in the risk. Here is what it costs and, more usefully, where the published figures disagree with each other.
| Item | What the source says | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Schengen short-stay fee, adult | EUR 90 | In force since 11 June 2024 |
| Children 6–11 | EUR 45 | Under 6 pay nothing |
| Visa fee as quoted in rupees | ₹7,200 – 7,500 | As published by PickYourTrail |
| VFS service charge | ≈ ₹2,202 | France account service charge in INR |
| VFS charge as quoted in rupees | ₹2,000 – 2,500 | As published by PickYourTrail |
| Travel insurance | EUR 30,000 minimum medical cover | A Schengen requirement, not an upsell |
| All-in per adult — budget | ≈ ₹10,500 | Basic insurance, no premium lounge or courier |
| All-in per adult — typical | ≈ ₹14,400 | What most of our files actually come to |
| All-in per adult — premium | ≈ ₹22,800 | Prime-time slot, better cover, courier return |
| Family of four | ₹42,000 – 48,000 | Lower if two of the four are under 12 |
A source we will not quote at you silently
The VFS Global India fee brochure for the France account lists a tourist visa at EUR 95 plus a EUR 10.53 handling fee, EUR 3 ICWF and a EUR 0.84 card transaction fee. That PDF is dated 13 May 2019 and it contradicts the EUR 90 Schengen short-stay fee in force since 11 June 2024. Several sites that rank for France visa fee queries are still quoting it. We are telling you it exists, that it is stale, and that you should confirm the number on the day you pay rather than trust any page — including this one — that was written a quarter ago.
Accommodation: Paris is not France, and the price says so
The six-night accommodation band of ₹25,000 to ₹1,20,000-plus hides a geographic story. Central Paris — the 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th arrondissements — is the most expensive place you will sleep on the entire trip, and the difference between staying there and staying two metro stops out in the 10th, 11th or 15th is often the difference between the budget and the mid-range column.
Nice and the Riviera invert in summer: in July and August a Nice seafront room can cost more than a comparable Paris room, and in November it can cost half. The Loire, Normandy and the countryside sit consistently below both, which is why a week that mixes four Paris nights with three countryside nights lands lower than seven Paris nights even though it involves more moving around.
For Indian families there is a specific accommodation argument that has nothing to do with price. A self-catering apartment with a kitchen — an aparthotel or a serviced flat — solves the food problem for anyone travelling with elderly parents, small children, or a strict vegetarian or Jain diet, because it lets you cook rice and dal on the evenings when nobody wants another restaurant meal. Those properties often price between the budget and mid-range hotel bands and are almost never offered by default on a package. Ask for one.
Food: the line an Indian traveller can move the most
The food band runs from ₹12,000 to ₹70,000 for a week and it is the most controllable number in the table, because Paris happens to have the food infrastructure an Indian traveller needs. Passage Brady in the 10th arrondissement is a covered arcade of Gujarati, Tamil and Punjabi restaurants. The La Chapelle and Gare du Nord quarter — known as Little Jaffna — has Tamil and Sri Lankan restaurants, spice shops, halal butchers and grocery stores that stock what you would buy at home.
Practically, that means a week of eating in Paris can look like three quite different budgets. Cooking most evenings in an apartment with groceries from La Chapelle puts you at the bottom of the ₹12,000–20,000 band. Eating a Little Jaffna or Passage Brady meal most days and a French restaurant a few times sits in the middle. Eating in tourist-facing restaurants in the 7th and 8th every night is how people end up at ₹40,000 for a week and still feel underfed.
The one thing not to plan around is finding strict Jain food in a restaurant. It barely exists in Paris as a restaurant category. The workable answers are pre-arranged Jain meals through your operator and a kitchen of your own, both of which need to be organised before you fly, not after.
Buying it as a package instead: the 2026 rupee bands
These are live 2026 market bands for the package types Indians actually buy, compiled across Thomas Cook, SOTC, Yatra, Veena World, Thrillophilia, Akbar Travels, PickYourTrail, WanderOn and Flamingo. Compare them against the DIY totals above with your own airfare added.
| Package type | Nights | 2026 band, per person | What sets the range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paris short break | 3N/4D – 4N/5D | ₹84,000 – 1,10,000 | Hotel arrondissement and whether Versailles is inside |
| Paris + Disneyland, family | 5N/6D | ₹74,500 – 1,20,000 | One-park or two-park tickets, and hotel near the park vs central |
| France only, classic | 7N/8D | ₹1,23,000 – 1,60,000 | Whether the second base is Nice, the Loire or Normandy |
| Paris + Switzerland | 6N/7D – 7N/8D | ₹1,35,000 – 2,75,000 | The top of this band is all-inclusive with flights; the bottom is land only |
| Amsterdam + Paris | 5N/6D | ₹70,000 – 1,06,000 | Coach tour vs independent travel |
| Honeymoon France | 5N – 7N | ₹92,000 – 1,64,000 | Riviera nights and whether a château stay is included |
| Europe multi-country, classic | 9N – 12N | ₹1,65,000 – 3,05,000 | Number of countries and whether flights are inside |
| Luxury France | 7N – 10N | ₹3,00,000 – 4,30,000+ | Hotel class, private transfers, guiding |
Package or do it yourself: the honest comparison
Do it yourself when
- You are two adults staying in Paris only for five to seven nights — DIY is typically ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 a head cheaper on that shape of trip
- You have travelled internationally before and are comfortable assembling your own visa file
- You want an apartment with a kitchen rather than a hotel room with a breakfast buffet
- Your dates are flexible enough to chase a fare
- You are happy to research and pre-book monument tickets yourself
Take a package when
- The trip crosses more than one country or more than two cities — the logistics cost more in mistakes than the margin costs in money
- It is a first international trip, or you are travelling with parents over 65 or children under 10
- The visa file is the thing you are worried about; a documented, operator-issued itinerary is exactly what the application needs
- Meals matter — Indian, South Indian, Jain or halal food arranged in advance is genuinely hard to do yourself from India
- You want one number in rupees rather than fourteen bookings in three currencies
Twelve ways to take real money off the total
Move the month, not the hotel
Shifting from the second half of July to late September is the single largest saving available. It moves the airfare band from ₹55,000–85,000 towards ₹35,000–50,000 and the hotel rate with it, and it shortens every queue you will stand in. Nothing else on this list saves as much.
Fly a Gulf hub instead of a European one
From Chennai or Bengaluru, Emirates, Qatar and Etihad routings are usually the cheapest realistic returns to Paris and often the most frequent. The cost is a longer total journey. Published entry fares from MAA start around ₹23,204 and from BLR around ₹20,489, which are teaser numbers but they tell you which direction the market sits.
Sleep two metro stops out
A room in the 10th, 11th, 15th or 19th arrondissement with a direct metro line is regularly 30–40% under an equivalent room in the 1st or 7th. Paris is small and the metro is dense; you are trading a postcard address, not travel time.
Take an apartment if you are four or more
Beyond three travellers the per-head cost of a serviced apartment usually falls below two hotel rooms, and the kitchen takes the food line down at the same time. For a family of four this is frequently a ₹30,000-plus swing across a week.
Buy a carnet or a travel pass, not single tickets
Local transport runs ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 across the bands. Almost all of the gap between those numbers is taxis. Paris's metro reaches everything on a first-timer's list, and committing to it on day one is the difference between the bottom and the middle of that row.
Pre-book the monuments you have actually heard of
Sightseeing is ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 whatever else you spend, and it does not shrink. What it can do is waste your time: an unbooked arrival at a major Paris monument in July can cost you two hours of a seven-day trip, which is a real cost even though it never appears in a budget.
Eat one Indian meal a day, not three French ones
Passage Brady and Little Jaffna are cheaper than tourist-facing French restaurants and, for most Indian travellers on day four, considerably more welcome. Alternating is both a food strategy and a budget strategy.
Do not buy a second country you cannot enjoy
Adding Switzerland to a seven-night trip moves the band from ₹1,23,000–1,60,000 to ₹1,35,000–2,75,000, and on a short trip a large part of what you have bought is train time. If the trip is under eight nights, France alone is usually the better holiday and the cheaper one.
Apply for the visa early enough to avoid paying for speed
The gap between the ₹10,500 budget visa cost and the ₹22,800 premium one is mostly prime-time appointment slots, courier returns and expedited services that exist because people left it late. Three months of runway removes the reason to buy any of them.
Carry a forex card and a small amount of cash, not a large amount of cash
Currency handled badly is a quiet ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 leak across a week in conversion spreads and ATM charges. Decide the mix before you fly rather than at the airport counter, where the spread is worst.
Use an eSIM rather than international roaming
Roaming on an Indian postpaid plan is the most expensive way to have data in France. An eSIM bought before departure costs a fraction of it, and matters more than it sounds because Paris navigation, tickets and restaurant hunting all run on your phone.
Ask what is not included, in writing, before you pay
The four lines most commonly outside a headline package price are international airfare, the visa fee itself, monument entry tickets and city tax at the hotel. Any one of them can be ₹10,000 a head. A quote that will not list its exclusions in writing is not a quote.
Questions we answer daily
How much does a France trip cost from India for 7 days?
₹1.15 to ₹1.8 lakh per person at the budget end, ₹1.85 to ₹2.85 lakh mid-range and ₹3 to ₹4.3 lakh at the luxury end, with return flights, six nights' accommodation, food, local transport, sightseeing, visa and insurance all included. Flights alone are ₹35,000 to over ₹1,20,000 of that.
How much does a Paris trip cost from India for a couple?
Double the per-person figures and take a little off the accommodation. A mid-range week for two lands roughly ₹3.5 to ₹5.4 lakh all in, because the ₹45,000–75,000 six-night hotel band is largely a room cost rather than a per-head cost. Flights, food, visas and tickets do double.
What is the cheapest month to visit France from India?
The November to March window is the cheapest by a wide margin, with airfares in the ₹35,000 to ₹50,000 return band rather than ₹55,000 to ₹85,000. The trade is short daylight — and if you want the Christmas markets in Strasbourg and Colmar, late December is cheap for France but not cheap for that particular week.
How much money should I carry to France?
Most of it should not be carried. Budget the ₹12,000 to ₹40,000 food band plus incidentals on a forex card and hold a small cash float for markets and tips. Currency handled at an airport counter typically leaks ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 across a week in spreads and ATM fees.
Is a France package cheaper than booking it myself?
For two adults in Paris only for five to seven nights, doing it yourself is usually ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 a head cheaper. The package wins when the trip crosses countries, when parents or young children are travelling, or when the visa file and the meals are the parts you do not want to own.
How much is the France visa fee from India in 2026?
The Schengen short-stay fee for an adult has been EUR 90 since 11 June 2024, with EUR 45 for children six to eleven and nothing under six. Published rupee figures run ₹7,200 to ₹7,500 for the fee plus roughly ₹2,202 in VFS service charges. All in, budget about ₹10,500 to ₹14,400 per adult.
Does the seven-day total include the flight from Coimbatore?
No. The benchmark flight row of ₹35,000 to ₹1,20,000 is an India–Paris return, and there is no nonstop to Paris from Coimbatore, Chennai, Bengaluru, Madurai or Hyderabad. A Coimbatore traveller adds a positioning leg to Chennai, Bengaluru or Kochi on top, or flies a Gulf hub from one of them.
Why do some sites show a Paris package at ₹25,000?
Because those are land-only prices for two or three nights with no airfare, no visa and no tickets, quoted to win a price comparison. A ₹25,200 three-day Paris headline and a ₹1.15 lakh seven-day total are measuring completely different things. Always check nights, flight inclusion and what the exclusions list says.
How much does a France trip cost for a family of four?
On the mid-range stack, roughly ₹7.4 to ₹11.4 lakh for seven days all in. Visas alone are ₹42,000 to ₹48,000 for four adults, less if two are under twelve. An apartment instead of two hotel rooms typically takes ₹30,000 or more off that across the week.
What is not usually included in a France package price?
Four lines, and each can be ₹10,000 a head: international airfare, the visa fee itself, monument entry tickets and hotel city tax. Our package pages print an inclusions and exclusions table for exactly this reason, because the market norm is to leave them implied.
