How to Fly to Paris from Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai or Bengaluru

The page that does not exist anywhere else in this market: what a South Indian traveller's actual options are to reach Paris, what each one costs in money and in hours, and when positioning to another city is worth it.

In short

There is no nonstop service to Paris from Chennai, Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Madurai or Hyderabad. Nonstop CDG service from India is Delhi only — Air France AF283 daily at 00:50 and Air India AI147/AI143, about 11 hours 10 minutes in the air. Everyone else connects, usually through a Gulf hub, for ₹35,000–85,000 return.

Start with the fact every South Indian France buyer has to absorb

There is no nonstop flight from your city to Paris. Not from Chennai, not from Coimbatore, not from Bengaluru, not from Madurai, not from Hyderabad. The only nonstop service to Charles de Gaulle from anywhere in India departs from Delhi: Air France AF283 daily at 00:50, and Air India AI147 and AI143, one to two a day, at roughly eleven hours ten minutes in the air.

This is stated plainly here because it is stated almost nowhere else. Every large operator's Chennai or Bengaluru landing page in this market is generic Europe copy under a city-specific headline, and none of them tells a Coimbatore reader the thing that actually shapes their trip: that you will change planes, that where you change matters, and that the choice costs real hours and real money.

What follows is the whole menu.

Every routing that exists, compared

Fares in the fourth column are aggregator entry prices — the lowest promotional figure a listing showed, not a return fare on your dates. Use the fifth column for planning.

Gulf hub or European hub: how to choose

Gulf hubs — Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi

  • Usually the cheapest realistic returns from Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and the most frequent
  • Short first leg out of India, which suits an evening departure and a manageable first night
  • Connection times are often generous, which is good for a family moving slowly and bad if you value total journey time
  • The practical default for most South Indian travellers, and what we quote first unless you tell us otherwise

European hubs — Frankfurt, Istanbul

  • A long first leg and a short second one, which some travellers find easier to sleep through
  • Immigration is at your final destination on a Schengen routing through Frankfurt — worth knowing if the connection is tight
  • Istanbul through Turkish is a middle case: a long-ish first leg and a wide network
  • Generally competitive rather than cheapest; worth checking rather than assuming

Via Delhi on Air India

  • The only way a South Indian traveller reaches Paris on a nonstop long-haul sector
  • One airline, one booking, and baggage handled through — which matters more than people expect on a first international trip
  • The domestic feed adds hours and adds a domestic-to-international transfer at Delhi
  • Worth pricing when Air India's fares are competitive; a listed BLR–Paris fare of ₹83,480 shows the top of that range

The Coimbatore question: position, or fly from home?

Because CJB has no service to Paris, a Coimbatore traveller has to decide how to get to the airport that does. There are three realistic answers, and which is right depends on the group rather than on a rule.

Fly the positioning leg on the same ticket. A domestic sector to Chennai or Bengaluru issued as part of the international booking means one ticket, baggage checked through, and the airline's problem if the first leg is late. It costs more than a separately bought domestic ticket. For a family of four on a first international trip, it is almost always the right answer, and it is what we book unless asked otherwise.

Fly the positioning leg separately, cheaper. A standalone domestic ticket is the cheapest way to cover the distance. The catch is that if it is delayed, the international sector is not anybody's responsibility but yours, and you will also re-check baggage. Reasonable for experienced travellers with a long buffer; a bad idea with an overnight international departure and a tight connection.

Drive or take the train to Kochi, Chennai or Bengaluru, and stay the night. For an early-morning international departure this is often the calmest option, and for groups it can be the cheapest. It costs a night's hotel and a day of the trip. Families travelling with elderly parents frequently prefer it, because it removes the one thing that causes the most stress on the outbound: a missed connection at the start.

Whichever you choose, budget the positioning leg on top of the ₹55,000–85,000 in-season band rather than assuming it is inside it. It is a line that quietly disappears from most quotes, and it is a line that has to be there.

How to buy the ticket without losing money

Do not issue tickets before the visa is granted

Processing is commonly 15 to 30 days and about one in six Indian Schengen applications is refused. A flight reservation is what the visa file needs; a paid non-refundable ticket is what people lose money on. We hold reservations for the file and issue tickets after the visa is in.

Fix the month before you look at fares

The season moves the fare band from ₹35,000–50,000 to ₹55,000–85,000, which is a bigger swing than any booking trick will find you inside a fixed month. If the dates are movable at all, moving them out of July and August is the whole saving.

Price the whole journey, not the long-haul sector

A Bengaluru fare that looks ₹6,000 better than a Chennai fare is not better if reaching Bengaluru costs ₹9,000 and a night's hotel. Compare door to door, from your own house, including the positioning leg and any overnight stay.

Treat teaser fares as direction, not as price

Aggregator entry prices — ₹20,489 out of Bengaluru, ₹23,204 out of Chennai — are the lowest promotional one-way figure a listing showed. They tell you which market is cheaper. They do not tell you what a return ticket on your dates will cost, and nobody should budget from them.

Book the return into Nice if the itinerary ends there

If your week ends on the Riviera, flying home from Nice rather than backtracking to Paris saves a full day. It usually costs a little more on the ticket and it is usually worth it, because a day of a seven-day trip is expensive at any fare.

Ask what the fare includes before comparing it

Checked baggage, seat selection and meal codes vary across the carriers that serve these routes, and a fare that excludes them is not comparable with one that includes them. This matters most for Indian families, who travel with more baggage than the airlines' cheapest fare classes assume.

Questions we answer daily

Is there a direct flight from Chennai to Paris?

No. There is no nonstop service to Paris from Chennai, Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Madurai or Hyderabad. The only nonstop from India to Charles de Gaulle is from Delhi — Air France AF283 daily at 00:50 and Air India AI147/AI143 — at about eleven hours ten minutes airborne.

What is the cheapest way to fly from Coimbatore to Paris?

Position to Chennai or Bengaluru and connect through a Gulf hub — Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi. Published entry fares from those two cities start around ₹23,204 and ₹20,489 respectively, and a realistic return runs ₹35,000 to ₹50,000 off-season or ₹55,000 to ₹85,000 in season, plus the positioning leg.

Should I book the domestic leg on the same ticket?

For a first international trip or a family group, yes. One ticket means baggage is checked through and a delay on the domestic sector becomes the airline's problem rather than yours. Booking it separately is cheaper and is only sensible with a long buffer and some travel experience. Budget ₹55,000 to ₹85,000 for the international return in season, with the positioning leg named separately.

How long does it take to fly from South India to Paris?

The Delhi nonstop is about 11 hours 10 minutes airborne, and every South Indian routing adds a connection to that — a first leg to the hub, a layover, then the long sector. Plan on a full day of travel door to door, which is why the first day in Paris should hold almost nothing.

Is it cheaper to fly from Bengaluru than from Chennai?

Bengaluru usually has more options — Gulf hubs, an Air France feed, Lufthansa via Frankfurt and Turkish via Istanbul — and the lowest published teaser fares we have seen. Whether it is actually cheaper for you depends on what reaching Bengaluru costs from your house. Compare door to door, not airport to airport. Published entry fares are around ₹20,489 from Bengaluru and ₹23,204 from Chennai.

When should I book flights to Paris from India?

After the visa is granted and as early as possible after that, which means the visa should be filed ten to twelve weeks before travel. The month you choose matters more than the day you book: in-season fares run ₹55,000 to ₹85,000 against ₹35,000 to ₹50,000 off-season.

Can I fly into Paris and out of Nice?

Yes, and on a 7-day itinerary that ends on the Riviera it is usually the right call. Nice has its own airport, and flying home from there instead of returning to Paris saves a full day of a short trip for a modest difference in fare.

Why do some sites show Paris fares under ₹25,000?

Those are aggregator entry prices — the lowest promotional one-way or teaser figure a listing surfaced, often on an inconvenient routing far out of season. Market round-trip fares have been quoted anywhere from ₹31,000 to ₹92,000. Budget from the planning band, not from a teaser.
