France from Salem and Erode: Choosing Your Airport, and the Visa Day

Two districts with no practical international departure of their own, which makes the first decision of the trip a question nobody else in this market will answer for you.

In short

Salem and Erode travellers begin by choosing a departure airport — Coimbatore, Chennai or Bengaluru — because none of them flies to Paris directly and India's only nonstop leaves from Delhi. Budget ₹55,000–85,000 return in season plus the journey to the airport. Visa biometrics are given in Chennai.

The districts the market has decided not to write for

Salem and Erode are, commercially speaking, invisible in Indian outbound travel content. The national operators stop at Chennai and Bengaluru. The one company with physical branches in Coimbatore, Erode, Madurai, Salem and Trichy has a France page that displays no price at all and does not mention Tamil Nadu once. There is genuine demand here — Erode and Salem send plenty of families to Europe every year — and there is essentially no content written for them.

Which is a shame, because the questions are specific and answerable. Where do you fly from. How do you get there. What happens about the visa appointment. How much of this can be done without anyone taking a day off. This page answers those four, at the same depth as our Coimbatore page, for a smaller audience.

Which airport should you start from?

Neither Salem nor Erode is a practical international departure point, so the trip starts with this decision. There is no single right answer — it depends on where in the districts you are and how many of you are travelling.

Departure airportWhy you would choose itWhat to watch
Coimbatore (CJB)Usually the shortest road journey from Erode, and often from Salem. Our office is there, so a pre-departure meeting is easyCJB itself has no Paris service, so you still position from there to MAA, BLR or COK — two connections in total
Bengaluru (BLR)The widest routing choice in South India: Gulf carriers, an Air France feed, Lufthansa via Frankfurt, Turkish via Istanbul. Lowest published entry fares, from around ₹20,489A longer surface journey. Best when a group shares a vehicle, or when the fare difference is genuinely large
Chennai (MAA)Three Gulf carriers with frequent service, entry fares from around ₹23,204, and it is where your visa appointment will be anywayThe longest surface journey of the three for most of these districts — worth it mainly if you can combine it with the appointment trip
Options reviewed September 2026India's only nonstop to Charles de Gaulle departs from Delhi. Everything from South India connects.Compare door to door from your own house. An airport that is ₹5,000 cheaper on the fare is not cheaper if reaching it costs ₹8,000 and a hotel night.

One trip to Chennai, used twice

Here is a piece of planning that applies to Salem and Erode more than anywhere else, and that we have never seen written down.

You have to go to Chennai once, for the visa appointment — there is no France visa application centre anywhere in these districts, biometrics are taken in person, and every applicant aged 12 and above must attend. That journey is unavoidable. What is avoidable is making a second long journey later.

If your international departure is going to be from Chennai anyway, and if the dates work, the appointment trip is also the trip on which you can settle everything that benefits from being done in person. And if the departure is from Coimbatore or Bengaluru instead, then knowing that early changes which airport you should be pricing from the start, because the Chennai journey stops being a reason to depart from Chennai.

What we will not tell you is to combine the appointment with the departure itself. Processing is commonly 15 to 30 days, so the two are months apart by necessity — and anybody suggesting you fly within days of an appointment is ignoring the fact that about one in six Indian Schengen applications does not result in a visa.

What we do so that nobody has to take an extra day off

Remote by default

  • Dates and group details by WhatsApp; itinerary, hotel list and a rupee price back the same day
  • Documents scanned and read against the France-Visas requirement set before anything is booked
  • Tamil, English or Hindi, 6 am to 11 pm, every day of the week
  • Payments, vouchers and tickets all electronic — the office visit is optional, not a step

In person if you want it

  • The office is at 9/5 Subramaniam Road, Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore 641045 — the shortest of the three journeys for most of these districts
  • For a first international trip, particularly with parents, sitting across a table while the itinerary is explained is worth the drive
  • Group bookings from a single family, a workplace or a temple association are easier to settle in one meeting
  • No charge, and no obligation to book at the end of it

Questions we answer daily

Are there Europe tour packages from Salem and Erode?

Yes. Every package we sell is available to Salem and Erode travellers, from ₹74,500 per person for a 5N/6D Paris and Disneyland family trip to ₹1,60,000 for a classic 7N/8D France tour, land only. The journey to your departure airport and the international fare are quoted as named lines.

Which airport should Salem and Erode travellers fly from?

Usually Coimbatore for the shortest road journey, Bengaluru for the widest routing choice and lowest published entry fares from around ₹20,489, or Chennai if you can align it with something else. None of the three flies to Paris directly — India's only nonstop is from Delhi.

Where do Salem and Erode applicants give visa biometrics?

At the France visa application centre in Chennai. There is no centre in either district, and France operates only 14 across the whole country. Every applicant aged 12 and above attends in person; under-twelves are exempt from biometrics but their applications are still lodged.

Can we do the whole booking without travelling to Coimbatore?

Yes, and most clients from these districts do. Dates and preferences by WhatsApp, itinerary and quote back the same day, documents scanned and checked, tickets and vouchers electronic. The only unavoidable journey in the process is the Chennai visa appointment. The office is open 6 am to 11 pm, all 7 days, if you would rather meet.

How much does a France trip cost from Erode?

The land package is ₹74,500 to ₹1,60,000 per person depending on shape, plus ₹55,000 to ₹85,000 for an in-season return airfare or ₹35,000 to ₹50,000 off-season, plus the journey to the departure airport, plus roughly ₹10,500 to ₹14,400 per adult for the visa and insurance.

Can a group from Salem travel together?

Yes, and for groups the airport-choice arithmetic changes — a shared vehicle to Bengaluru or Chennai often beats several separate positioning flights. Group bookings are also the case where one meeting at the Coimbatore office usually settles more than a week of messages. Package bands run ₹74,500 to ₹3,05,000 per person depending on shape.

How far in advance should we plan?

Five to six months. Schengen applications are accepted from six months before travel and commonly take 15 to 30 days, and the Chennai appointment has to accommodate the leave of every adult applicant. Indian enquiries for April–June travel peak in December to February, and hotel choice narrows quickly after that.
